Today’s lesson is on guilt. The guilt we feel when we wrong someone, or the way we try and make others feel guilty when we feel that they have wronged us in some way. The definition of guilt is having committed an offense, crime, violation, or wrong, especially against moral or penal law. Guilt can be real, or it can be imagined.
Sometimes when we are accused of an offense whether we are guilty of that offense or not we sometimes in our minds think on other things we may have guilt about. The law according to James 2:10 says’ For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all.’ So, we see that under the law, we are always going to be guilty. But God sent His son so that we don’t have to live under the law and be guilty. Ephesians 2:4-8 let’s us know that we are saved by Grace. Thank God for His saving Grace so that we may no longer live under guilt.
There are many examples in the Bible of change because of guilt, like Tamar and her father-in-law, Genesis 38:1-26. Joseph’s brothers in Genesis 42:21. Zacchaeus was accused by the crowd, they found him guilty, but Jesus said today salvation has come to your house, Luke 19:1-10. And we can never forget the woman caught in the very act of adultery. She was definitely guilty, or was she? Jesus said go and sin no more! Translation- Not guilty!
What are you feeling guilty about, the past, present, or is it about something that you think will happen in the future? Give it to God and hear His voice saying Not Guilty! In conclusion God gave us a free gift of living a life free from guilt. Will you now give that gift back unwrapped and say to God ‘no thank you?’
I hope not!
I am realizing more and more how much of a privilege it is to be a child of God. Jesus has gone to prepare a place for me in Heaven, with Him! (John 14:3). I may have to endure some things while I am here on earth, but that is okay because Jesus is my personal savior, so I need not fear! If you don't know the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, I beg you, get to know Him in the pardoning on your sins! (John 3:16).
